We finally got our first green bean harvest. We’re picking two or three lemon cucumbers a day. We harvested some potatoes a week or two ago. The newly planted peas should start producing soon. We need to start harvesting the collards. We have a good amount of basil. The raspberries are making another round of berries that we can start picking soon.

There are lots of japeño peppers growing. The tomato plants have been slow, but there are a few tomatoes on the way. Some delicata squash are finally starting to grow.

The peas we planted were awful: inedible pods and small peas inside. They were a different kind (we forgot the name) from a random seed packet we got. Heather ripped them out a few days ago and planted our reliable Oregon Sugar Pod peas.

A couple days ago, I planted some bokchoi and Chinese broccoli on the east end of row 5. I also reseeded some corn, since i probably got about a 50% germination rate on the first planting.

The raspberries at the garden entrance have been solid performers this season. And as usual, we have more chard and orach than we know what to do with. There’s less kale, but a few plants are becoming established, and we have a bunch dropping seed right now.

The soil is still super moist, so the wood chips must help a lot with that… but I feel like some plants are starving for nitrogen. Or maybe it’s a pH problem; we haven’t tested that lately.

We tried our best to rip out the hops roots from the garden and moved them to the northwest side of the pasture. We put some raspberry roots in their place in the garden.

Heather got some large cardboard for weed control and we covered a row with it. We’ll try to get a bunch more.

I weeded the volunteer kale patch, and it really needed it. It also needed to be thinned, so we ended up with about a meal’s worth of baby kale from the effort.
